More than 250 research institutions, universities and organizations throughout Austria present outstanding research projects and technologies on April 21 during the biggest national scientific event called "Lange Nacht der Forschung". STEYR MOTORS is among the participating companies and proudly opens its doors for the public to have a look at the state-of-the-art engineering center that was implemented during the significant company expansion in 2015. As a particular highlight of STEYR MOTORS' tour during the event, the brand-new semi-anechoic test chamber for acoustic measurements and the flow measurement equipment is publicly presented for the first time and the unique diesel power module specifically created for the e-locomotive Siemens VECTRON is exhibited.
The art of engineering has a long tradition in Steyr and the achievements of the region heavily influenced the global automotive history. With its origin in the famous Steyr-Daimler-Puch group of companies, STEYR MOTORS is a perfect blend of tradition and innovation. The outstanding robustness and reliability as well as the compact design have always been an essential feature of STEYR products, but in comparison to the past the products are now more powerful and environmentally friendlier. Besides the traditional diesel engines, nowadays STEYR MOTORS focuses on innovative, electric and hybrid solutions. A constant export rate of 99 % underlines each year anew that the Austrian engineering goods and services are internationally sought-after. In this respect, the headquarters in Steyr play a vital role: the high-end center for research, development and production combines tradition and innovation in order to create innovative future technologies that continue to enhance the global engineering history.
During the scientific event, STEYR MOTORS guides its visitors through five main stations that explain:
- why STEYR engines are so special
- for which applications engines have to be frozen in a cold chamber
- why and which test equipment is of great importance in engineering
- how an e-locomotive is able to move without overhead electric lines
- where and how STEYR products are being applied today
Adults and children are warmly welcomed at the headquarters in Steyr on April 22 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.!
